ABOUT US
We are a vibrant, multi-generational, multi-ethnic faith community located in Fort Smith, Northwest Territories—just north of the 60th Parallel and above the province of Alberta. Our town of approximately 2,500 people grows by the hundreds each year with seasonal workers. As the educational hub of the NWT and home to many federal government offices and agencies, Fort Smith is a unique and dynamic place to live, work, and serve.
Fort Smith is situated on the traditional territorial lands of the Salt River First Nations, and our community reflects a rich diversity of cultures and backgrounds. With 17 different ethnic people groups—including Dene, Chipewyan, and Métis peoples—Fort Smith is both deeply rooted and constantly renewing, welcoming new individuals and families alongside long-time residents.
Fort Smith Pentecostal Church seeks to reflect the community we are part of. We are not just a church in the community—we are a church of the community. As a congregation made up of diverse denominational and ethnic backgrounds, we are a small, self-supporting church with a big heart for God and for people.
We believe church is a place where everyone can belong. Whether you are new to faith, returning after time away, or have followed Jesus for many years, you are welcome here. We strive to create safe, authentic community where people can build meaningful relationships and discover what it means to belong to God and to one another.
We are centered on Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour and on the truth of the Bible. We believe God’s Word transforms lives, and we are committed to teaching, worship, and prayer that help people grow in their faith and understanding.
Following Jesus is a lifelong journey. We desire to see every person become all that God has created them to be—growing in spiritual maturity, discovering their gifts, and living with purpose both inside and outside the church. Our heart is outward-bound: we want to bless our town, serve our neighbours, and share the hope of Christ in practical and meaningful ways.
Fort Smith Pentecostal Church is part of the Alberta & Northwest Territories District of the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada. We value Spirit-empowered living, passionate worship, biblical teaching, and active mission—locally and globally.
